Dr. Garlock has been performing Attention Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder evaluations for twenty years. He has evaluated individuals of all ages starting with age five years through age 60 years. Dr. Garlock has a Doctoral degree in Psychology and has been evaluating individuals for all types of psychological conditions while working in public schools, on site in business and industry, in psychiatric facilities and in his private practice. He has performed approximately two thousand AD/HD evaluations during his career. He charges $250.00 for a complete evaluation which consists of three sessions. The initial session is a history taking session and the evaluation process is explained during this initial session. All evaluation forms are provided during this initial session. The second session is spent entirely with the client and the evaluation procedures are directly administered to the client. The third session is a results session in which the evaluation report is reviewed with the client and other interested parties.
Dr. Garlock utilizes an objective and subjective approach when evaluating individuals for AD/HD. There is alot of confusion regarding what AD/HD is and is not. There are specific criteria established for the diagnosis of Attention Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder and Dr. Garlock strictly follows these criteria.
The evaluation of his condition involves a thorough history taking of the client, collateral information provided by others in the clients life or who have knowledge of the history or current status of the client, teacher input if a child is being evaluated, objective and subjective checklist and symptom list completion, individual interviews and behavioral observations, an objective computerized test of attention, impulse control and hyperactivity and consultation with treating medical professionals. This information is compiled into a nine to twelve page report of findings that outlines available treatment options.
Dr. Garlock can offer non-pharmacological treatment recommendations that may not involve the utilization of medication to treat the identified AD/HD symptoms. Dr. Garlock refers to the Neurofeedback Wellness Center in The Woodlands which offers non-invasive neurofeedback treatment alternatives that focus upon brain wave activity and the amelioration and management of the identified AD/HD symptoms.
